Our Concept Artists are critical helping our clients bring their vision to life … they serve in finding customized solutions that best fit the needs of each customer. You will have the opportunity to produce stunning visual concepts that capture light, emotion, and narrative in a concept frame or boards. Your work will help inspire vehicle design, new features and innovations for our products, communications, and other creative projects.

You will mainly be responsible for developing concept artwork and visual assets, working closely with our Operations Team, and will collaborate with the team to communicate our innovating ideas. Our ideal candidate is inspired by the future of mobility and technology, and passionate about creating ground-breaking, futuristic automotive experiences.

About Your Role

  • Produce quick and detailed drawings, paintings, and prototype your design of vehicles, automotive components, and innovative automotive technology.
  • Work with the Operations Team and other department team members to explore and generate forward thinking concepts with the ability to apply various materials and textures to your design (leather, carbon fiber).
  • Visualize ideas and stories in 2D and 3D through drawing and automotive renderings. (Solid works experience a plus).
  • Prepare and pitch artworks to internal teams explaining and articulating the thinking behind the artworks that are based on individual car components and car design.
  • Create and design high-quality and innovative marketing materials including presentations, brochures, ads, posters, charts/graphs, infographics, signage, promotional items, and employee communications
  • Working along with our Operations Team as well as engineers and be familiar with manufacturing processes including but not limited to 3d printing, CNC machining, and fabrication. Beneficial traits such as sheet-metal stamping, composite techniques, and casting practices are preferred.”
  • Gather feedback to iterate and improve the artworks until it is signed off.
  • Work closely with operations, engineers, and developers to implement the artworks where appropriate. Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and 3D printing.
  • Help establish the Velocity brand in products and communications, adhering to style standards.
  • Stay up to date with latest trends in automotive, technology, and other related fields.


  • A portfolio of your work is required for applying and interviewing for this role.
  • 3+ years’ experience in concept artwork development using digital tools in automotive background design.
  • Expert in automotive individual component and car design with a focus on researching and developing methods to design, build, and ship various items.
  • Strong visual design aesthetic and keen eye on details. Design for Manufacture (detailed, tooling-ready CAD).
  • Proficiency in industry standard artist tools (Photoshop, Cinema 4D, Z-Brush, Maya, etc.)
  • Experience developing concept art for Velocity products (automotive design experience a plus).
  • Ability to quickly create and work from low fidelity to high fidelity.
  • PASSION for innovation, design trends, and technology is required.
  • Risk taking in design, pushing past the obvious, and making something you love.
  • Experience producing final artwork data.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable, able to change and alter direction according to changes in projects or business environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently to prioritize duties with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a design-related discipline preferred. (Mechanical/Automotive engineering a plus).
  • Ability to work 7am-6pm Monday-Thursday.
  • Mandatory drug screening is required.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting.
  • Climb up and down ladders to retrieve and stock merchandise.
  • Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, or by using telecommunications equipment.
  • Enters and locates information on computer.
  • Presents information to small and large groups.
  • Visually verifies information, often in small print.
  • Safely operates a motor vehicle.
