We are looking for an experienced manager to maintain the Velocity standards by managing scheduling, deadlines, ensure accurate parts shipping and receiving,  open and close day to day activities in a clean and safe environment, conduct daily meetings to ensure quality and communicate to the Velocity Leadership team and customers. A vast knowledge of technical, mechanical, metal fabrication, electrical, body and interior work is necessary to oversee the operations team. Our Shop Manager is critical in maintaining the integrity of our craftsmanship for our customers and the Velocity culture for all associates.

About Your Role

  • Planning, training, and directing up to 40 direct labor employees who perform various repairs and custom rebuilds.
  • Ensuring a safe environment for employees through adherence to safety policies, assessing and eliminating hazards, improving housekeeping standards, conducting incident investigations, and implementing corrective action.
  • Planning and executing production schedules to meet customer requirements to meet delivery and quality requirements including accurate reports and other paperwork required by the contract. Reviewing daily achievement of targets and report variances.
  • Recommending and implement strategies to improve quality, meet on-time delivery, and fiscally responsible by maintain cost within budget.
  • Ensuring accurate inventory control of all materials used in the performance of component repairs within the department and minimizing inventory held through efficient planning.
  • Developing and realize productivity improvements through lean initiatives, Standard Work Instructions, and process improvements.
  • Motivating, monitoring, and counseling employees regarding work-related issues and performance. Assess workforce skills and initiate cross training programs, as necessary.
  • Planning and recommending capital expenditures necessary to improve product flow.

Qualifications

  • Automotive Management 8 + years (preferred)
  • Prior leadership experience, leading a team or project
  • Documented cases of the use of Professional Customer Service Internally and externally
  • Demonstrated successful management of stressful situations
  • Ability to work 7am-6pm Monday – Thursday
  • Ability to work Friday and Saturday remotely depending on workload.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Access

What would make you stand out?

 

  • Associate/College degree in a mechanical technology program
  • Experience with a six sigma 

Physical Demands

 

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting. Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Climb up and down ladders to retrieve and stock merchandise.
  • Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, or by using telecommunications equipment.
  • Enters and locates information on computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print.
  • Presents information to small and large groups.
  • Safely operates a motor vehicle.
