All About Roadster Shop's IFS Legend Series Chassis

When you think of a classic Chevy C/K trucks from the '70s and '80s—or its rugged cousin, the Blazer—you picture styling, toughness, and nostalgia. Roadster Shop debuted this chassis at the 2022 SEMA Show, and just last year, Velocity Restorations sampled this state-of-the-art chassis on a very special early Ford Bronco. Now, Velocity is preparing to expand its offering of the RS Legend Series Chassis on a limited-series collaboration of Square Body K10 builds with Roadster Shop as well as the launch of the Velocity Founders Series Bronco, Scout, K10, and Blazer.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the standard features that make the Legend Series stand out (these are used in the K10 / C10 variant):

• Roadster Shop “Laser Rail” frame built from 2×6 structural sections with integral crossmembers — a beefy skeleton engineered to resist twist and flex under modern loads.

• GM factory independent front suspension (IFS), using GM’s front differential and axle shafts — giving that classic truck front end modern compliance and control.

• Fox 2.5 Factory Series adjustable front coilovers — to tailor ride quality, height, and performance balance.

• Power rack-and-pinion steering and a tubular front sway bar — delivering sharper, more responsive handling than what that old solid front axle ever delivered.

• 13-inch front disc brakes (GM Silverado spec), and matching 12-inch rear disc brakes — giving the Legend Series chassis serious stopping power out of the box.

• Custom Deaver multi-leaf rear springs with Fox 2.0 performance shocks, riding on a GM 12-bolt rear with a 3.42 posi — the rear end balances load-carrying capability with ride comfort.
