In addition to hitting such a milestone in restoration builds, this 500th Bronco holds special significance as the platform for debuting Velocity’s all-new Heritage Series Bronco and showcasing the first-ever aftermarket application of the Ford Performance Gen 4X 5.0L Coyote V8 crate engine.

An example of a final-year early Ford Bronco, this Velocity Heritage Series 1977 Ford Bronco features a distinctive Space White Pearl paint job, accented by gray sunset body graphics. Custom-machined billet accessories are color-matched, creating a cohesive “gray-out” aesthetic (a distinctive take on Velocity’s Blackout Package). The vehicle sits on black 17-inch Method Race wheels wrapped in 33-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires.

Velocity Heritage Series Classic Ford Bronco

Inside, the new Velocity Heritage Series Bronco redefines sophistication and utility, seamlessly blending classic design elements with cutting-edge technology. No detail was overlooked when creating this new interior, but, hands down, the centerpiece is the VR Exclusive center console. This full-length console features integrated cupholders, heated seat controls, and a wireless smartphone charger.

Tying the center console in with the dash opened space to relocate the Bronco’s HVAC controls, allowing Velocity to install a larger touchscreen stereo head unit and integrated HVAC vents. Heritage Series builds also feature exclusive door panels with larger speaker housings, and as a finishing touch, the Recaro seats get stylish Alcantara inserts. Bottom line, the all-new Velocity Heritage Series Ford Bronco is now an even better mix of classic design and cutting-edge technology.

Ford Performance Gen 4X 5.0L Coyote V8

Another key innovation to debut on Velocity’s 500th early Ford Bronco restomod is the industry’s first-ever use of the Ford Performance Gen 4X 5.0L Coyote V8 crate engine. The Gen 4X is a more tuner-friendly version of the engine that debuted on the 2024 Ford Mustang GT. This engine benefits from better internal oiling, spray-in cylinder liners, and upgraded heads and block for improved performance, durability, and reliability. Instead of the dual throttle bodies and locked PCM found on the factory Mustang GT’s Gen IV Coyote, the Gen 4X has a single throttle body (not having the dual air boxes makes it more accommodating for car builders), and the use of the Gen III engine computer allows for custom tuning and calibration.

While the Gen 4X is new to Velocity’s spec sheet for its vintage Ford Bronco builds, the 500th Bronco still rides on a VR Exclusive Frame built by Roadster Shop, providing a solid foundation for enhanced performance and comfort. Equipped with Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes and Hydraboost-assisted braking, this Bronco offers exceptional stopping power, and the suspension setup, with Bilstein custom shocks and front and rear sway bars, contribute to a smooth and controlled ride both on- and off-road.
