In its defense, inline diesel engines are practically indestructible, but while they have gobs of low-end torque, they are notoriously low on horsepower (about 127 horsepower in this engine’s case). That’s a perfect combination for getting out of the messy terrain that military vehicles must endure, but it’s horrible for driving around town where acceleration, such as merging on the interstate or taking off from a traffic light, is critical.
