Peter Millar Highlights Velocity In ‘Artisans of Craft’ Series

Every industry has a select group of individuals who embody the essence of their craft, pushing boundaries and setting new standards for excellence. Whether it’s the precision of watchmakers, the creativity of musicians, the innovation of chefs, the vision of golf course architects, or the craftsmanship of classic car builders, these individuals inspire others, shape their industries, and leave a lasting legacy. In recognition of such extraordinary talents, clothing specialist Peter Millar launched its Artisans of Craft series, which shines a spotlight on such pioneers.

In its recent feature, Peter Millar’s Artisans of Craft focused on Stuart Wilson, the CEO of Velocity—a company that has revolutionized the classic car restoration world. During his interview, Stuart shared how his passion for cars and personal background led to the founding of Velocity and how that passion continues to shape the company today.

As it turns out, the story of Velocity’s formation parallels Peter Millar’s origin. The clothing brand started in 2001 with the production of a single cashmere sweater, which eventually grew into a comprehensive luxury performance sportswear line. Similarly, Velocity had a humble beginning with a single classic Ford Bronco restoration, and it grew into a full-scale operation that creates luxury performance classic cars focusing on driveability and quality while preserving heritage. These classic cars and trucks are tailored to the unique tastes of discerning clients, including automotive enthusiasts and collectors, and that process requires passion and precision from the moment each one enters Velocity’s 135,000-square-foot facility.

“As you look through our process, we have several craftsmen. Craftsmen aren’t robots. They’re not computers. They’re working with their hands to complete a task and they are passionate about leaving these cars with just the hint of ‘what’d you change about it?’. We strip the vehicle back to bare metal, and then we use new components on these cars to make them better today than they ever were. Our vehicles, as you look across the lineup, are all true to that heritage look of the vehicle. We try to keep them true to the form but daily reliable just like your 2024 vehicle is.”

Today, Velocity’s product line has expanded beyond its original vintage Ford Bronco restorations thanks to a nine-station build process that begins in a state-of-the-art metal shop, where the foundation of each custom car is laid. This process has eliminated many of the uncertainties related to custom restorations by offering fixed prices, shorter build times, and unparalleled quality control. Every step of the restomod build, from metalwork to paint and upholstery, is completed by skilled artisans who take pride in perfecting their craft. This approach improved the customer experience and set a new standard in the industry.

At the core of Velocity’s philosophy is a belief that every vehicle it produces is more than just a means of transportation. Each one represents freedom, style, and a personal statement. The company’s vast team of craftsmen, designers and engineers approach every project with this in mind, ensuring that each vehicle is a work of art as well as a reflection of the owner’s individuality. This commitment to excellence has earned Velocity a loyal following among classic car enthusiasts and collectors.

Velocity’s promise to its customers is simple: every build will deliver an unparalleled blend of classic car nostalgia and modern performance that focuses on driveability, reliability, and quality. From the first interaction with a client to the final delivery of the vehicle, Velocity ensures that every step of the process is seamless, personal, and crafted to the highest standards. After all, Velocity restomods are built so owners can proudly enjoy the freedom, thrill, and nostalgia of driving a modernized classic car.

In short, Velocity has transformed the restomod landscape by redefining what it means to drive and own a classic vehicle, from rugged off-roaders like the vintage Ford Bronco, Ford F-250, and Chevy K5 Blazer to street-performance vehicles that include the classic Ford Mustang, Ford F-100, and Chevy C10. And more models are on the horizon as the demand for these modern classics grows. Whatever comes next from Velocity, you can be assured that each car and truck will continue to set the bar for luxury, performance, and craftsmanship in the world of modern classics.
